CMI/UNC Honduras trip 2009

A team of 44 people from Compassion Med International and UNC, School of Nursing and School of Pharmacy traveled to Tegucigalpa, Honduras in March 2009 to provide healthcare in eight locations throughout the city. The group treated more than 1700 patients in five days and provided food for the families in the poorest area of the city.

UB NOW: “Building Minds, Changing Lives”

The University at Buffalo’s School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences hosted “Building Minds, Changing Lives” to celebrate its efforts to fight the global AIDS epidemic. UB’s International Pharmacotherapy Education and Research Initiative was initiated by Dr. Chiedza Mopanga, a 1988 UB School of Pharmacy graduate and Zimbabwe’s first clinical pharmacist. Maponga’s work with Professor Gene Morse resulted in a collaboration with the University of Zimbabwe, where methods of HIV pharmacology are helping this country deal with the devastating effects of the AIDS epidemic. Merck and RTI were also recognized for their support of equipment donations to this initiative.
