pharmacist and physicians study almost the same amount of years !
they are both experts in what they do ..while physicians are doctors of medicine, pharmacist are doctors of pharmacy ..you can’t say that someone is better then the other , because while someone’s expertise is diagnosis , the other’s expertise is medicine and drogs ..they complete each other !
and with all do respect to nurses , there’s absolutely no sense what so ever comparing pharmacists to nurses !!!!!!!!!!!!

i’m two months away from graduating and becoming a pharmacist and every one is telling me stories on how we are not respected in the work field and how doctors refuse to take our advise despite the fact that it is for the patient’s benefit !!

If people only knew how many mistakes we catch that would kill you. I’ve worked retail
and hospital. If that’s not bad enough, try to rush us while we have your life in our hands. For more funny videos search Pharmacy Staff Meeting, Meth Head Mary, or Crack Head News (vol I-IV) to get an idea of what we have to deal with. Even if you learn nothing, you may pee yourself laughing.

I sometimes find this job hilarious esp when dealing with doctors who think they know everything about medications,when in fact they only know very little, and start doing FUNNY things with their med orders XD

I work at a hospital that asked me to document all the doctor mistakes that I correct so they can address any pattern of mistakes. At the end of the month we had a few hundred documented mistakes made by MD’s that we corrected. The hospital was alarmed at the number and asked us to “make sure the number of interventions handed in and documented does not exceed 100 per month” because the hospital will look really bad! We still correct many mistakes…just not document all of them.

Something pharmacists should keep in mind… People don’t know what you know, they don’t see what you see, they don’t feel what you feel, they haven’t studied and endured what you have, so why take the criticism personally. Shrug it off, because they have no idea what they’re talking about, apparently. Do what you do, help the people, and get paid. Remember to smile! =]
